This week we will start a new unit looking at how writers across America's history have used fiction and poetry to introduce social change. As we read of America's movements toward equality, we will consider how much progress we have made in our society today, and what kind of progress we still need to make.

Postponed timeline for Boys Next Door extra credit (to give more time to read the play after completing the new frontier novels and to account for fall break, we have decided to postpone the Boys Next Door work by one week):
- Tuesday 9/29: After school extra help session (optional but come prepared to discuss having already read the play)
- Monday 10/5: Dialectical journals due to turnitin.com by 10pm
- Wednesday 10/7: Extra credit assessment during X block
