Week 13: October 28 - November 1

Mon 10/28:
  • Today was the last day for working on synthesis essays in class -- paper is due to www.turnitin.com by 5:00 pm on Wed 10/30.
  • See revision handout
  • Scroll down to last week's notes for more information on the paper (handouts, resources, etc.)
Tues 10/29:
  • We are beginning Arthur Miller's play, The Crucible
  • We watched the beginning of the play in order to gain context/background before reading Act I
  • Here is the characterization chart that we filled out while watching the movie today
Wed 10/30:
  • We will finish viewing Act I of The Crucible
  • Today you will convert your synthesis essay from a Google Drive document to a word document (only one person has to do this if you are working with someone). Here's how to do so:
    • Log onto your Drive account
    • Open your social justice synthesis essay
    • Click "file," then "download as" and choose "Microsoft Word (.docx)"
    • Your computer will probably automatically download the file to the "Downloads" folder
      • If it does, open the file from that folder
      • If it does not automatically download, choose a location to save it; then open it
    • Make all necessary formatting changes once you open it
    • View instructions for turnitin.com
    • View MLA formattingThurs 10/31:

Please email me freely with your comments and questions at krista.bowen@cobbk12.org. Although the school does provide me with voicemail, I have access to email much more readily. Please extend me the courtesy of one or two days’ time to respond. I also encourage students to speak with me directly as I will typically coordinate with students to handle resolutions.
